Using a design brief:
Learning Intention:To follow the design brief and create pancakes for 5-8 year olds.
Design brief: Kids in the kitchen
Design
Here, you could describe your variation to the buttermilk pancake recipe. Write out your recipe, including the modified list of ingredients and method.
Produce
In this part of the design process, the food item is produced; in this case, your variation of buttermilk pancakes. If you can, make your buttermilk pancakes at home or in class. You may like to take a photo of your final product.

Success Criteria:1. I can design a pancake recipe
that uses seasonal fruit.
2. I can list what the safety considerations are in a kitchen and then make the activity safe for young children to cook in. 3. I can list the constraints and considerations of the brief. Investigate:1. Make a list of the constraints and considerations that need to be addressed. Remember:
• Constraints refer to the non-flexible issues which need to be taken into account. For example, do your cousins have any allergies e.g. nuts or dairy? • Considerations are issues that place some restrictions on your planning but there are ways that these can be overcome. For example, the skills of your cousins; seasonal fruit that you have available. You may like to look up recipe books or go online to investigate different variations of pancakes. You could develop a couple of different options for the recipe and then decide on the most suitable one that meets the needs of the brief. Keeping in mind your list of constraints and considerations, complete the following:
