Design a two-course meal:
Learning Intention:To follow the design process and design a two-course meal.
The Design Process:The design process includes four stages: Today you will be focussing on stages 1 & 2, design brief and investigating.
Stage 1:Design Brief What is the challenge to be solved? It includes the aims, constraints (what must be included) and considerations (what your choice may be) that needs to be addressed. A list of questions you can ask at the end of the investigation needs to be drawn up, called the criteria for evaluation, to see if you met your aim. Stage 2: Investigate Based on your design brief, look for foods that would fit your brief. Come up with at least three options that would fit your design, then select which is the most suitable option to make. Write up a shopping list of ingredients you need to buy, and create a sequence of operations and safety considerations, based on the recipe, that must be followed to produce the dish. Stage 3: Produce Produce the dish using your sequence of operations/recipe. Stage 4: Evaluate Evaluate if you met the design brief, answer your criteria for evaluation, and list what you could do to improve the dish if you were to make it again. |
Success Criteria:I can identify the problem to be solved.
I can write a design brief of what I need to do. I can investigate and design a two-course meal. I can find a number of options that I could use before I settle on the more suitable option. I can create questions for criteria for evaluation. Design Brief:You decide to make your mother a special meal for Mother's Day. Your task is to make a two-course meal to feed a family of 4. It is your choice whether you make an entree and main meal or main meal and dessert and also whether you make it as a brunch/lunch or dinner. Does your mum have any diary specifications that you need to cater to when designing your menu?
You need to investigate:
1. Which two courses you want to design: entree and main OR main and dessert.
2. Will you design a brunch/lunch or dinner menu? 3. Does your mum have any dietary specifications you need to cater for? 4. What will you make for your two courses? |
