Design brief of an Asian Banquet.
Learning IntentionTo design an Asian Banquet in groups of 4 following a design brief.
|
Success CriteriaI will be an effective group member who selects an Asian country and identifies the constraints and considerations of the brief.
I will research 4 recipes of that country that meet the demands of my brief. I will help select which recipe my partner and I will produce for the banquet. I will identify the ingredients needed for the recipe. I will develop 4 criteria for evaluation and answer these criteria for why I chose that option over the other 3. I will develop an 80 minute work plan for the production. I will submit a food order. I will design a creative place card for our dish that will entice other diners. |
Design Brief:
An Asian banquet is going to be prepared to celebrate the significant influence of Asian countries on the food available in Australia. Since the Gold Rush in the 1850s Australian’s have developed a liking for foods with an Asian influence.
Your group of four students will contribute two dishes to this banquet. This combined effort of all groups should be a truly representative sample of foods from a variety of Asian countries, and include a variety of foods (such as different vegetables, meats and style of dishes).
The feast is to include a range of dishes from across Asia; therefore you will need to negotiate which country’s cuisine you want to produce. The feast will take place during lunch time, therefore you have 80 minutes prior to the feast to produce the dish, serve it and have all cooking equipment cleaned up.
So that everyone knows what the different dishes are within the banquet, you need to design and produce a place card for your dish which includes the name of the dish, country of origin and the main ingredients or flavours.
The dish you bring to the banquet needs to be suitable to feed three people.

Investigating and Designing:
|
Analysing and Evaluating:• How did the dish meet the demands of the design brief?
• Suggest modifications to the dish that would make it even more suited to the design brief. • Answer the evaluation questions developed within the investigation and design phase. |
